Activities

Scholarships are offered for a period of two terms (3/6 MONTHS) In any discipline for graduate and post graduate students. After the initial term, the freeship can be extended for another term on the approval of the jury/selection committee. After completion of the entire term, the committee may even recommend the student for a position as trainee faculty. A higher remuneration and free studio space will accompany the post. The centre is often used as a stepping stone by aspiring artists to further their contacts in the art world and for gaining access to scholarships like INLAKS, the Human Resource Scholarships etc. Kanoria posts a call for students seeking scholarships twice a year, once in November-December and once in May-June. Kanoria’s fortunate location in Ahmedabad allows easy accessibility to India’s major art centre-Baroda, and accessibility to Mumbai And Delhi where art dealers are based.

The Foundation Course

This is a programme for graduate women candidates only. It offers aspiring young artists comprehensive art training with a certificate of achievement in foundation of fine arts. The programme is planned to develop awareness through imparting the fundamentals of art with supporting knowledge of mediums. The course deals in all the mediums of the fine arts such as drawing, painting, clay modelling (sculpture), printmaking and a brief history of world art.

The Children’s 5-year Preparatory Course

This is a 5 year course (minimum admission age is 11yrs or 4th /5th std. Students) conducted by the centre give children an awareness and sensitivity to art. The children are engaged in drawing, painting, fairytale illustration, mask making and paper-sculpture in these workshops.

Future Plans

The centre will soon be starting a performing arts section in the near future in a view to complement the other activities of the centre which has endless growth and limitless possibilities, changing and maybe even mutating into different forms along with time, since the centre’s core strength is creativity. And imbibing the essence of different forms, whatever they may be, will continue to be the life-blood of the centre.

Kanoria also plans to expand its library into a full-fledged reference for art and in due course plans to house a museum to exhibit the precious and unique works of art created by the artists working at the centre time after time. Apart from other related activities as per the prevalent requirements to keep pace with the developing world. The centre will always continue its work with the commitment of Shri and Shrimati Kanoria of the Kanoria Family Trusts.

The Center welcomes and would deeply appreciate any contribution from any like-minded individual, institution or Trust in cash or kind for future development of the Centre.
Contributions may be made in the name of “Kanoria Centre for Arts”, Ahmedabad and sent to the Hon. Director, KCA.
